Varavani J. Dwarki, who prefers to go by “Dwarki”, is from Bangalore, India and currently works as Executive Director in the Oncology division at Novartis, a leading healthcare organization. He has a Bachelor and Master Degree in Veterinary Sciences and a Ph. D in Biochemistry from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Being in the USA for over 35 years, Dwarki has been volunteering and part of non-profit organizations, he has been instrumental in fundraising activities for Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes and others. He is very enthusiastic and passionate about working on social causes and helping the needy.
Irappa ArabhaviVice President
Irappa Arabhavi was born in a village near Belgaum, Karnataka. Irappa completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from PDA College of Engineering Gulbarga, Karnataka. He has been living in the United States for more than 20 years with his wife Parvati and daughters Eesha and Anisha. Irappa spends his time volunteering in various non-profit organisations. Irappa has been associated with Samarthanam for more than 11 years and looks forward to contributing much more to Samarthanam. He is thankful to Mahantesh for trusting him and giving him these responsibilities.
Sumana Madhu is a Senior tax associate and comes from an accounting and customer service background. She has lived in Greater Boston area for more than two decades. Having volunteered for various community causes, Sumana believes in service with a smile. She has experience serving in non-profit organizations such as Chinmaya Mission Boston and Mandaara New England Kannada Koota. She is keen to help out in causes that have far reaching impact.

Madhusudhan (Madhu) Akkihebbal is a software engineer in the Greater Boston area, working in the field of Information Security. Over the past two decades, Madhu has been part of several cultural and artistic initiatives. He has served as the president of Mandaara, New England Kannada Koota in Boston (2013-15) where he started new useful initiatives that are still going strong in the years since. He is on the executive team at Chinmaya Mission Boston and is a founding member of RangaTaranga Boston, a cultural non-profit organization. Keenly interested in music, Madhu has also founded light music groups such as Lahari Boston, Kalarava and Chinmaya Swaranjali Boston (a devotional choir). Recently, he has started a Kannada content portal on YouTube called as Abdhi America Creations.
He utilizes his free time on creative projects and volunteers for various community causes. Kannada and cultural activities, team spirit, creative work, and causes that help needy people are just a few of the things that attract Madhu’s time and effort. He has lived in the Greater Boston area with his family for the past 20+ years.
Ramesh is a software engineer, native of Dharwad, living in USA for over 22 years, actively volunteers in various non-profit organizations and contributes his time and effort to several community and cultural activities. He is keen on streamlining his knowledge and energy towards meaningful initiatives to achieve maximum impact. Ramesh is excited to join hands with team Samarthanam to add value and support its objectives.
Sudhakara Rao is a chemist by background and an IT professional by career. He hails from Bantwal Tq of Mangalore district and did his Masters in Chemistry at Mysore University. After obtaining his Ph.D. from IISc, Bangalore, he moved to Boston where he has been staying for the past 35 years. He engages himself in numerous community activities related to art, language and culture, particularly in relation to Kannada and Tulu. Over the last two decades, he has served in the local Kannada and Tulu Kootas under various capacities including the role of a President. Currently he is heading the charity wing, Seva Mandaara, of New England Kannada Koota.
Sudhakara and his wife, Usha Rao, founded the charity organization, Kala Tarangini, to support programs that facilitate inculcating various traditional art forms of India in the 2nd generation Indians here in the US. Sudhakara runs weekly SuktaDhama classes where the attendees learn a methodical way of chanting Sanskrit verses with a touch of grammar. He is instrumental in running monthly Bhajans through Bhajana Tarangini and yearly Navaratri series called “Mane Maneyalli Navaratri” through GKVV. Over the years, he had been involved in several fund-raising activities benefiting numerous charity organizations both in India and in New England.
Rajanna Heggadahalli is a resident of Southborough, Massachusetts, and is originally from Heggadahalli, Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar district. He has a Master’s in Information Systems from Northeastern University and is an IT Management professional at Boston Consulting Group for the last 21 years. An active member and volunteer in several organizations, including New England Kannada Koota, Rangatarnaga, VSNE, since 2000 and is involved in many fundraising activities through these organizations.
Rajanna has helped to support the community back in India through their struggles in dealing with COVID-19. In the past few months, he has raised money to help twelve different government hospitals in and around Gundlupet with funding for medicine and medical supplies, including masks, gloves, sanitizers, and COVID kits.
N.B. Patil has been in the US for more than 21+ years and is originally from Dharwad. He has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and held various roles within Bose and worked across many divisions. He is currently working as Head of Corporate Concept Group responsible for developing new product concepts across different divisions/incubations and working with venture groups to support startups. He has 32 granted patents in his name and many patents in pending state. He loves to solve real world problems with technology that makes a difference in people’s lives and is looking forward to bringing new technologies to help Samarthanam. He has been actively involved in many non-profit organizations and held leadership roles in bringing new culture and ideas. He was a secretary for Navika, President of VSNE and has many other roles in NEKK and other organizations. He is currently working as Vice President of International Basava Center. He is living with his wife Vidya and two kids Soham and Stuti.
